The intimate rolling hillside of Anderson Valley wine country is incredible to explore during summer and fall when the vineyards are green, and the grapes are ripening. Tastings are always spacious and uncrowded, a benefit from being an hour farther than Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries and the area still being somewhat undiscovered.
Anderson Valley Wine Country Is So Wonderful To Visit In The Wintertime!
Aside from fewer crowds and gorgeous scenery, every February, we celebrate our region’s white wines with a wine and food event called the Anderson Valley Winter White Wine Festival. As we are mostly known for Pinot Noir (learn about our Pinot Noir Festival that happens in May), white wines tend to be overlooked, so at the Winter Fest, we go all out to celebrate our white wine gems!
Between the Anderson Valley wine region and the nearby Mendocino Coast, there are a variety of events held during the winter; a few of which include:
- Anderson Valley Winter White Wine Festival
- Little River Inn Bloody Mary Competition
- Mendocino Mushroom Feast
- Mendocino Crab Feast
- Whale Festivals
Winter is Equally Fantastic…
…and our wine region benefits from many warm sunny days and blue skies during the winter months. Rains begin as early as November, although are becoming more infrequent. Still, the rolling vineyards are lush green, ferns and lichen are vibrant, rainbows often fill the horizon, hills are abundant with grazing sheep, and cold nights are perfect for a fire and some wine.
Every winter Goldeneye Winery offers their caviar and sparkling wine pairing. Winter hiking and beach picnics on the coast are a must-do, and the odds are great you’ll too experience why the locals refer to Mendocino as the land of rainbows. A day on the coast should include fresh seafood and whale watching, perfect accompaniments to enjoy with our world-class wines!
Anderson Valley Events In Wintertime
Have a Peek At Our 2020 Inaugural Winter Fest!
In a typical year, the Winter Fest celebration is Saturday and Sunday and invites hundreds of people to the valley for food and white wine discovery. Some years we are blessed with the weather and can enjoy the event both indoors and outdoors. In the years when there is rain, we are cozy indoors! The venue is small, so capacity is limited and worth planning ahead. The next one will be held February 19-20, 2022.
Join us in February 2021 for White Wine Weekend!
In 2021 we cannot welcome guests in the capacity of Winter Fest, and instead, each winery is hosting mini-white wine celebrations for their guests! Keeping tasting experiences COVID safe is a priority, so these experiences are limited.
Experiences Include:
- Live music that overlooks spectacular views
- Vertical white wine library tastings
- Food and wine pairings include crab chowder, paella, French onion soup, flatbread pizza, and more!
The White Wine Weekend is sure to be one to delight your senses.
Reservations can be made directly with each winery to ensure social distancing, so book now!
